[1] Increased memory and a high specification
graphics card are likely to have more impact on performance than
increased processor speed. If the client is being used via a modem
connection, increasing the specification of the modem speed can
improve performance.
[2] RandConnect® is supported on Windows 98/SE,
Windows 95, Windows 2000 Professional and Windows NT4 Workstation
(Windows ME is currently under consideration). Rand recommends
Windows 2000 Professional and Windows NT4 Workstation. While Windows
98/SE and Windows 95 are supported, some occasional errors may
be experienced. These errors are due to issues within the particular
operating system and are not errors in the RandConnect® program
code. In such cases, where a resolution is not found, Rand may
recommend upgrading to one of the recommended platforms. Rand
will endeavor to investigate and address problems experienced
with the software running on the supported OS versions. However,
for Windows 95/98/SE/ME the solution may be to upgrade to a new
operating system. For example, if the program crashes or hangs
on Windows 98 and the cause is not readily identifiable, it may
be caused by the interaction of the RandConnect® software with
the operating system and in this case a solution for Windows 98
is not always practicable. In such instances RandConnect® will
generally recommend upgrading to Windows 2000 Professional as
this has previously often seen the issue disappear.
[3] JVM is not normally installed by default when
installing IE5.
[4] PC does not have to be dedicated to RandConnect®
use. However this configuration does not take into account additional
requirements necessary to support any software other than RandConnect®.
